Dr. Hasan Shahpari (1944-2024) dedicated his life to the pursuit of knowledge, as well as the enrichment of others’ lives through teaching and scholarship. At any chance he could get to support a student’s educational journey, he always helped.
As a professor, he inspired countless students, instilling in them not just academic excellence, but a deep sense of curiosity and a commitment to lifelong learning. His classroom was filled with discussion, where his enthusiasm for his subject matter (literature, philosophy, sociology, poetry and more) was admirable, and his belief in the transformative power of education was evident in everything he did. His teachings extended far beyond the classroom, as he instilled values of integrity, perseverance, and compassion in his own two children, and grandchildren.
Throughout his life and career, Dr. Shahpari was not only a passionate educator but also a mentor, colleague, and friend. In honor of his impact in the academic community around the world and his charitable spirit, In honor of his memory, Dr. Shahpari’s family will award $1,000 to one rising sophomore, junior or senior college student in the Greater Philadelphia region to pursue their path in social studies, humanities, philosophy, music, or literature.
